My winter home is spent at the Brunswick Winter Market on Saturday mornings. Before and after I can be found at a few fairs and festivals.  But, as always, you are a phone call or email away from finding your perfect apron!

YMAS Worn Out Apron Contest
It’s time we cranked up the excitement around here with some apron fun - let’s have a contest!

Send a picture of a most beloved/worn-out but still-hanging-around/can’t-part-with-it apron and our apron community will judge the one apron that best fits the bill. Entries will be posted on yomommasapronstrings.com and everyone will have the opportunity to voice their preference as to which is the most worn/stained/beloved. Grand Prize will be a YMAS apron with the runner-up receiving a coupon for half off the apron of their choice.

Contest Rules:
  • Everyone is eligible to enter and your apron can be any apron - yours, your grandma’s, one found at a yard sale - no matter, as long as it is a visibly worn/used apron.
  • Please send your photos to maineaprons@comcast.net.
  • The winner of the Worn-Out Apron contest will have a choice between an off the rack Swirly, Rick Rack, or the new Cooking with Gas aprons.
  • Send a high resolution JPG image so we can see the evidence of LOVE!
  • Submission of images will close at 9 pm on Saturday November 30th, with voting to begin Monday morning, December 2nd on this website.
  • All images will be placed on an online ballot to allow one week of voting before closing on Saturday, December 7th, so the winner can have their new apron in time for holiday baking & entertaining.
  • Vote early and vote often.
  • There will be no collecting of personal information other than the submitter’s email address for notification purposes. I have zero interest in marketing beyond sharing the fun of the contest itself.
  • Spread the word! Send you photos! Let’s do this!
Once upon a time I began a blog. Over time it became quite neglected, so much so that the last entry I made was over a year and a half ago.  I've decided to make a change and try it again because as much as I like to sew - which is very, very much - I also like playing with words and a blog is a good place to do this.

Thanks to a post by a fellow vendor I discovered that a local newspaper included me (me, as in Yo Momma's Apron Strings) as one of '10 gifts, from Maine and from away, for foodie friends and family '. It's one of those gee-whiz moments for me as this is the first time I've seen my business mentioned in the press and (luckily) with such kind words.  And one of the beauties of this article is the fact that also mentioned with me is Gryffon Ridge Spice Merchants, a fellow Brunswick Winter Market vendor! Christine is a one-woman dynamo selling her spices and blends all over the country. She exhausts this other one-woman business owner with the pace of her business life. I quietly inhabit my sewing room cutting, ironing and sewing and she is off and running every day, all day long. There's a reason her spices can be found all over the country.....

So ends my first posting of my new blog life. Next week look for my official entry in  Giveaway Day a huge, biannual event where everyone with a shop or blog can give something away. Fellow blogging vendors take note!
